Write Compiled Expressions

Option 'W' --> Write Compiled Expressions. QTGrep converts all input Regular Expressions and Keywords to search for into internal forms which optimize the search speed. The conversion into internal form is quick for only a few Regular Expressions or Keywords. However, when it is desired to search for many Regular Expressions or Keywords the conversion to internal form can be time consuming. If the search for a particular set of Regular Expressions or Keywords is to be performed more than only a few times, it would be desirable to save the time of conversion for each search. By writing the internal search forms to a file, this file may be invoked via the 'f' option for future searches and time saved.
